Background: Jack Sonstegard (He/Him) has an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He is currently pursuing a master's in Control Systems and Mechatronics. Jack has past work experiences at Boston Scientific as a Batteries Manufacturing Intern and at SICK Inc. as an R&D and PLM Services Intern.
Research areas / area of interest: He is currently researching a data-driven engine model to enable real-time learning and control for a UAV drone. Areas of interest for Jack are nonlinear, apdative, and optimal control as well as system identification and machine learning.
Free time: Outside of research, Jack likes to stay active by running and lifting. Additionally, Jack enjoys trying out new restaurants and cooking fun dishes.
